Brown RFID Blocking Wallet
I was provided this brown leather RFID blocking wallet for review from Leopardd, and find it to be a very nice wallet with the extra RFID blocking feature as a bonus.
It is a well made, attractive brown leather wallet. It's really a bi-fold with an extra center flap to hold additional cards. In the long “money” compartment of the wallet, there are three section. One compartment zips closed, and then the larger money pocket has a divider in it. This allows you to keep bills separate (really nice for traveling and using different currencies, and also the added zipped compartment to secure other things away.
When open, you have card pockets on both sides, and a center flap that also holds cards. The left side and the center flap have a see through pocket for holding ID, and the right side and flip side of the flap have three card pockets without the see-through feature. You can also tuck a card or cash in a pocket behind these card slots.
While I have not tested the RFID blocking feature with a reading device, I have no reason to believe it doesn't not work as advertised. I will say that the RFID blocking material is a bit stiff and makes a crinkling or crackly sound where if it were just leather it would be quiet. This added protection is well worth the minor noise. The RFID blocking wallet comes in a brown box that makes it nice if giving as a gift.
I really like this RFID Blocking Wallet and would recommend it to anyone looking for a brown leather wallet that also protects against RFID readers.
Black RFID Blocking Wallet
I was also provided this black leather RFID blocking wallet for review from Leopardd, and find it to be a very nice wallet with the extra RFID blocking feature as a bonus. Both this and the brown RFID blocking wallet above are nice wallets and it comes down to personal choice as to which you might like the best. The brown one holds a bit more, and has the zippered pocket that is nice, but some might like the simplicity and black color of this one.
The wallet is a well made black leather wallet with a divider down the middle of the long money pocket. I like wallets with dividers as it helps keep different currencies separate when traveling. Even if you don't travel, having the divider can be convenient.
It is a bi-fold wallet with three credit card slip in pockets on each side, with a pocket behind these pockets as well. There is a fold up ID pocket with a clear front.
I have not tested the RFID blocking feature with an RFID reader, but have no reason to doubt that is works fine. There is a bit of a crinkling or crackly sound because of the RFID blocking material, but I don't find it to be an annoyance or that big of a deal. It's not that noisy. The RFID blocking wallet comes in a black box that makes it nice if giving as a gift.
I like this RFID Blocking Wallet too, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple black leather wallet that also protects against RFID readers.
It is sad that RFID blocking wallets are needed. There are people out there who will use technology to rip you off, and with the new RFID (Radio-frequency identification) readers, they can steal your credit card number, information on your passport, etc. without you even knowing it.
While you may have never heard of RFID before, chances are you are using them right now. RFID chips are found in passports, credit cards, pet finders, transportation payments or easy-passes, hospitals, retail stores and a number of other areas where information is needed to be scanned quickly easily for identification.
This information on these cards can be easily read via a $50 credit card reader picked up on eBay by just about anyone. The readers store your credit card number, expiration date and CCV number with a quick pass of your pocket or wallet. Criminals are now using technology to up the strength to increase the distance in which they can scan your card to ensure they have good standoff from the scene of the crime. Some reports are showing your cards can be scanned from 20-30' away.
These RFID blocking wallets can help protect your information, and add an extra level of security for your credit cards.
You can also protect your cards and passports with RFID blocking sleeves. You can read more about them here: RFID Blocking Sleeves
