"AlainSentry removal, or sentry neutralization, techniques are not techniques that most people will ever need. Outside of certain military units, or possibly during a terrorist threat, they are impractical and will never be used. However, many people are fascinated with such techniques for whatever reason. Personally, I first learned these kinds of techniques while in the military, and we had a small class on them during sniper school. I’ve continued to train in them because of that military background, and because they are found in some combat/military fighting systems. For those that are curious regarding how to sneak up and kill someone, I have created this page for information only. I’m guessing many people have seen heroes in the movies sneak up and take the evil villain’s sentries out quickly and silently. In reality, killing someone quietly isn’t as easy as the movies make it seem. (Is anything like the movies?) It is not simple or easy.

FM21-150, the old Army Combatives manual, had this to say:

“Killing a sentry is completely different than killing an enemy soldier while engaged in a firefight. It is a cold and calculated attack on a specific target. After observing a sentry for hours, watching him eat or look at his wife’s photo, an attachment is made between the stalker and the sentry… At such close quarters, the solder literally feels the sentry fight for his life. The sights, sounds, and smells of this act are imprinted in the soldier’s mind; it is an intensely personal experience…”

This is why the special operations community has searched for ways to depersonalize the issue.

With all of that said, these are some Sentry Removal Techniques taught by a friend of mine, Calvin Longton, at the Korean Martial Art Festival in which I assisted him by being the person he did the techniques to. They are from a live presentation, but you can learn quite a bit from them. They are presented here for your information to assist you if you are in the military or a situation where they could be needed. I sincerely hope they never are.
