“You don’t have to fight like me; you just have to fight well.”

– Michael D. Janich

This is an important concept. We are all different. We must adapt techniques and concepts to our own physical build and capabilities. The goal for safety …and self-defense is personal to each person. I want to help YOU be safe and help YOU defend yourself if needed. That doesn’t mean making you a clone of me, but rather sharing and teaching things that will help YOU survive and be the best YOU can be. And that will be different for each person.

Some people will say, “I like that tactical pen, and that’s what I want to train with and carry.” Others won’t spend a dime on a pen, but will choose a knife or firearm to train with and carry. Some will train with all three as well as anything else they can get their hands on.

Some people will learn to kick, others won’t be able to kick due to physical limitations. Some will learn the entire Hapkido Cane curriculum, including the fancy stuff just for show and demonstrations. Those that really need a cane to get around will focus on the simple, easy and practical methods for defending themselves with a cane.

Some people will punch, others will use the palm heel strike which is less likely to hurt one’s hand. The point is, it is all personal. Each person must take responsibility for their own safety, self-defense and survival. I’m here to help you do just that. Not everything I write about, share, etc. will be applicable or appropriate for YOUR situation and circumstances, and that’s okay. Take those things I share and teach that will help you stay safe and defend yourself. Maximize YOUR attributes and train to the best of YOUR ability.

Don’t try to be me or anyone else. Be the best YOU can be!

Take care and stay safe.
