]]>Here’s what the Reader’s Digest Action Guide: What To Do In An Emergency has to say about Snakes:
Most snakes are timid creatures that attack only when startled or cornered. Even a poisonous snake will usually slither away before you get near it. But if you are bitten, you have a good chance of surviving.
Snakes are cold-blooded creatures that seek hot places when its cool. They will bask on sun-bathed rocks and ledges. When it is hot, they are found under rocks, logs, or leaf piles. They also occupy caves, crevices, shady ravines, swamps or rivers.
Although many of the snakes you might encounter are harmless, all should be treated with extreme caution. If poisonous snakes are found in your area, learn to recognize them and to know their behavior and habitats.
Here is an additional Snake Safety resource from the US Forest Service in Idaho:

]]>First, if you can unbuckle the seat belt, do that first. And if you can open the door, do that. Cutting a seat belt off and breaking windows are for when you have no other options. And if you must, this tool will get the job done.
It has a red ABS plastic handle that is easy to see and sturdy enough to break out a window with the carbon treated steel hammer head. It is light enough that you can swing it easily. The seat belt cutter is on the same side as the flat hammer so you won’t dig the sharp point into your body when cutting away a belt.
It comes with a holder that you can attach and keep the tool stationary and ready to deploy if needed.
The box has instructions on using the emergency car hammer and seat belt cutter as well as mounting instructions for the holder.
This emergency tool is one of those things you hope you never have to use. However, in the event of an emergency, it will be very handy to have accessible. It could even save a life, yours or a loved one. While the seat belt cutter is designed for automobile seat belts, the glass breaking hammer could be used in a variety of places. Having this emergency tool handy to break out a window to escape a building in case of fire, active shooter, or other emergency would be well worth it if ever needed.

]]>I selected size L and they fit snug. If you have big hands, you will want a larger size. For me, these fit just right. There is a strap around the wrist that you secure with Velcro that not only secures the gloves on, but ads a little bit of wrist support.
There is a hard knuckle protection on the back, and a softer rubber type protection on the upper fingers. These do a decent job of protecting knuckles. There is an extra soft leather pad on the palm that makes it easier to hold onto things. With that said, I wouldn’t use these for hard core stick fighting with Escrima or similar sticks. They won’t protect your hands from a good impact from your opponent’s stick. These also won’t protect your hands from needles, so if you are working in a job where you may encounter infected needles, these would not offer adequate protection from getting stabbed. So, as far as tactical gloves for police, I’m not certain they would protect hands from hazards police sometimes encounter.
Overall, I like these tactical gloves and think they are a good general purpose pair of gloves that provide some extra protection for the hands, especially the knuckles.
